I wanted to try collagen peptides for a solid amount of time before letting you know my thoughts and I’ve shared this product with you so much over the last year on Stories that I thought I’d put everything into one blog post! If you end up trying them, let me know your thoughts and results!
I’m honestly not sure if I can think of a bigger health trend that has made it’s rounds on the internet faster than collagen within the last year. Being honest, collagen didn’t interest me at first. But then I finally gave in and started researching it after a few blogger friends started sharing their thoughts! I always receive so many questions from y’all about collagen when I post on Stories that I’m excited to share my thoughts!
Collagen I’ve Tried + Love
There are several types of collagen that exist in our bodies, but the majority of them are types 1-3, which support tissue in hair, skin, nails, joints, ligaments and muscles – here’s a resource to learn more on that.
Just as there are lots of types of collagen, there are also many types of collagen supplements in all different forms, but they all pretty much come from two main sources: animal hides like cow and chicken, and collagen sourced from fish, which is referred to as “marine collagen” (so if you’re Vegan, this isn’t a supplement for you).

My Thoughts on Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
Here’s the lowdown – I have been using Vital Proteins collagen supplements since early 2019 and have been dedicated to using it every day, I try really hard to be consistent with it after I noticed my hair getting thin from stress. I really love their products for several reasons, mostly because they’re affordable compared to most and I have noticed a difference compared to their competitors. They also have packets you can throw in your bag and take on the go – perfect for travel! Keeping it 100, I would definitely say the unflavored does make my coffee taste…odd…so I do prefer the flavored versions unless I drop it in an espresso-size coffee and chug it lol. You can also add the powder to smoothies and juices!
The main differences I’ve noticed are with my skin and hair.. My wrinkles aren’t as deep – and paired with my hyaluronic acid this is a huge win! My hair has definitely gotten thicker according to my hair stylist, but I’m looking into visiting a hair specialist to make sure I’m also on the right probiotics or vitamins to help promote hair growth. From hormones over the years it’s thinned out, but with this added to my daily health routine I’m noticing a difference! It’s just all about consistency.
