My Winter Skincare Must Haves

With a change in weather, comes a change in skincare. Living in Texas, the weather is so humid but when it gets colder, my skin gets super dry, so I have to stay on top of my skincare and my oils so my skin doesn’t get outta whack. I’ve shared both my morning and evening routine on Stories over the last year, but wanted to lay it out here step-by-step and tell you why I love each product and also what it’s best for!

As a reminder, I have combination/normal skin – I get slightly oily in my t-zone but have normal skin everywhere else! In the winter and summer, I tend to get dry so will usually double-up on moisturizing products!

Step 1: Exfoliator

About 7 months ago, right before summer I tried this Sugar Scrub exfoliator and LITERALLY fell in love. It smells like a tropical daiquiri and beach vacation all wrapped into one!!! “Packed with healthy ingredients like sugar, a natural exfoliant that dissolves in water, as well as papaya and pineapple, which contain naturally occurring enzymes to chemically exfoliate the skin, this scrub leaves skin looking smoother and brighter.” I PROMISE YOU IT DOES THIS! This is gentle enough to use every day, but I typically exfoliate 2 times a week. My skin has never felt softer. Please try this scrub and thank me later πŸ™‚

Step 2: Cleanser

This cleanser is truly one of the only ones I’ve found that really leaves my skin feeling clean and makeup free. Don’t you hate when washing your face makes it feel tight? This won’t. It also doesn’t make me feel greasy AT ALL, which is super nice. Here are some of the top ingredients:

  •  Lactic acid naturally cleanses and exfoliates to reveal healthy, radiant looking skin.
  •  Chicory root is a natural anti-inflammatory prebiotic that helps boost the appearance of firmer skin.
  •  Turmeric root is a powerful antioxidant that helps reduce signs of inflammation.

Definitely my #1 and a product I grab for all my travels too! This comes in the Discovery Kit if you want to try a smaller version.

Step 3: Toner

I was sent this toner last year to try and review, and I was skeptical at first. Really only in the last couple of years have I TRULY gotten into my skincare regimen, and products that claim to get rid of dark spots are something I’ve always been iffy with. I tried this for 4 months before mentioning it on Instagram, and let me tell you – my spot scars DISAPPEARED after using this! I’ve also had a bunch of you message me, MEN AND WOMEN, saying you’ve tried it and noticed such a huge difference in your skin!

Step 4: Serum

When it comes to a serum, I’m always looking for something that’s going to both even the tone and moisturize. This resurfacing gel is an alcohol-free formula that combines 100% natural probiotics and glycolic acid to gently get rid of dead skin cells and remove excess dirt and oil (without over drying!). It also has Natural Mushroom + Beet Extract which is 400X more hydrating than hyaluronic acid alone! I use this every single day.

Step 5: Eye Cream

I’ve tried sooooo many eye creams over the years, but none other than Banana Bright Eye CrΓ¨me has actually brightened my dark circles. From years and years of starting at the computer and late nights working, I’ve not had the best sleep, so masking it with a great eye cream is my go to πŸ˜‰ It’s also clean beauty, so I like that.

Step 6: Moisturizer

My favorite part! Finding a good moisturizer has been a goal of mine for the last few years, and I have a couple of criteria: not sticky or greasy, keeps me moisturized throughout the day, and it’s also really important that it works properly with the other products in my routine – it has to be a great base for makeup. There are 2 that I swear by from Tula, which are the Hydrating Day and Night Cream and the Dew Your Thing Oil-free Gel Cream. In the winter, I usually gravitate toward the Day and Night Cream as I feel like that’s what keeps my skin hydrated the best during the crisp weather.

Masks

All of these are my tried and true faves – and believe me, I’ve tried a lot!!
